Open Water Diver Certification

Krista

GirlDiver Krista on her first Open Water dive

GirlDiver has certified hundreds of divers from the Seattle area, and it has become a ”tradition” to do your dives in the Puget Sound, with an abundance of life and wonder to see.    However, not everyone wants to do their training dives in the Puget Sound, so GirlDiver has developed an entirely NEW way to achieve your full SSI (Scuba Schools International) Scuba Certification.

There are 3 options for completing your Open Water Certification:

1. One Weekend Executive Program (full certification with dives in the Puget Sound)

2.  Tropical Referral (class and pool here…dives on your next personal vacation)

3.  Join us on one of our Tropical Certification trips to Mexico or Florida

Build your own class

Gather a group and do a semi-private evening or daytime class with JUST your group.  (3 or more divers required) You can even schedule a private class for yourself or include a friend. Because you prepare for the class from the comfort of your home, you spend your class time preparing for and practicing scuba.

AT YOUR PACE -(For all of our programs)

Not sure the weekend program is for you?  Not sure you’ll be able to “keep up” with the group?  We guarantee we will not move you to the next level until YOU feel ready for it. We want you to feel absolutely comfortable in the water prior to your Open Water check out dives. Join us for additional pool sessions, or check out our PRIVATE SCUBA CERTIFICATION program below…with more pool time and a less hurried schedule.

With a Private Scuba class, the class is designed around YOUR schedule.  This is perfect for those who work during the evenings and weekends, or those who just don’t have a weekend free.   Some choose this exclusive program just so they’ll have the undivided attention of the instructor.

Open Water Scuba Class Details for ALL Open Water classes:

Class size: Minimum 2, maximum 4 students per instructor

  • Classroom: Our Retail Training Facility in Auburn (24 B St. NE)
  • Pool location: Tukwila Pool or Evergreen Pool (Burien)
  • Open Water location: Local Open Water dives, one of our group trips or we’ll give you a referral on your next warm water holiday.
  • Equipment provided by GirlDiver: All Open Water gear, including mask, fins, snorkel, tanks, weights, wetsuit, regulator, BCD, boots and gloves.
  • Additional expenses: Incidental costs paid to others during Open Water dives. (parking, ferry passage, coffee, divemaster tips…)

(NOTE:  Like any college course, a students enrollment in the class does not “guarantee” certification.  Our instructors will work tirelessly with a student to prepare them for the Open Water dives, however, should the student not be able to complete the required skills, we cannot certify the student to dive on their own.   We think this makes sense, but there’s been some confusion on this point…)
