PADI Open Water Diving Class and Pool

This course, followed by Open Water Certification dives, will teach you the skills to become a confident diver with great buddy skills, able to explore the underwater realm, worldwide. Our Getting Your Feet Wet page is a great place to get an overview for the options for learning to dive.
Choose our one weekend scuba certification program in Seattle. Gather a group and do a semi-private evening class with JUST your group. (3 or more divers required) You can even schedule a private class for yourself or include a friend. Because you prepare for the class from the comfort of your home, you spend your class time preparing for and practicing scuba.
During our time together, we will review (and test) the materials you reviewed at home…and we’ll take that knowledge and infuse it with REAL WORLD diving experiences from our staff. Your questions will have answers…your interest will be fully piqued. Once through the knowledge portion, we’ll head to the warm pool environment where we’ll learn the 20 skills necessary to explore underwater. Our experience in the instruction realm has allowed us the opportunity to create new and easier methods for mastering the skills. Really…we make scuba easy!!
When you’re ready to take on the Open Water dives (4 required for certification) we offer two options. You can complete your dives in the Puget Sound (85% chance you’ll get to see a Giant Pacific Octopus on your third dive…) or you can choose to complete your dives on your next dive vacation with any PADI partner in the world.

SCUBA IMMERSION -(Our WORLD FAMOUS One Weekend PADI SCUBA Certification Program)
Short on time? Yeah, who isn’t these days. We know you don’t have six weeks to dedicate to learning scuba. And we also know that in a six week program, the information you learn during the first week becomes a bit foggy during the last week. Immersion programs have long been popular for learning a language…we bring immersion to scuba.
We can teach this program ONLY because we teach in groups of no more than 4 students per class. Our space is limited, so our programs do fill. We offer wait lists if the weekend you choose is already full.
The weekend program REQUIRES all of your knowledge portion be completed prior to showing up at class. We still spend 4 – 5 hours over the course of the weekend using a multi-media format to infuse scuba into your land-dweller mind and begin the transformation into “scuba diver”.
With two pool sessions and plenty of individual attention, we go over the skills necessary for the Open Water dives. Now…it’s off to the water. We’ll complete 4 dives over two days. By late afternoon on Sunday, after passing the skills needed for certification, you’re ready and certified to dive anywhere in the world…for the rest of your life.
For divers coming from out of state, we offer corporate rates at a partner motel in the area with a “fab” continental breakfast and easy outside access for your wet gear. We’ve had nothing but great reviews from our divers staying at this location.

With a Private Scuba class, the class is designed around YOUR schedule. This is perfect for those who work during the evenings andweekends, or those who just don’t have a weekend free. Some choose this exclusive program just so they’ll have the undivided attention of the instructor.
We’re happy to accomodate you, should you choose this option. (Last minute scuba certification requests can also be worked in usually) Check this out in the DIVE SHACK.
Open Water Scuba Class Details for ALL Open Water classes:
Class size: Minimum 2, maximum 4 students per instructor
- Classroom: A local Starbucks central to students in class
- Pool location: Fife City Pool or Tukwila Pool
- Open Water location: Local Open Water dives, one of our group trips or we’ll give you a referral on your next warm water holiday.
- Equipment provided by student: personal snorkeling equipment (purchase through GirlDiver for exchange privileges)
- Equipment provided by GirlDiver: One week PADI Open Water DVD rental included. All Open Water gear, including tanks, weights, wetsuit, regulator, BCD, boots and gloves.
- Additional expenses: Incidental costs paid to others during Open Water dives. (parking, coffee, divemaster tips…)
Upgrades available for Open Water Diver packages:
- Get full PADI Drysuit Specialty Certification the same weekend as your Open Water Certification dives: $150
- 3 mm neoprene socks to keep your toes toasty: $19
- Purchase Open Water AND Advanced Open Water at the same time…save 20% on total cost.
(NOTE: Like any college course, a students enrollment in the class does not “guarantee” certification. Our instructors will work tirelessly with a student to prepare them for the Open Water dives, however, should the student not be able to complete the required skills, we cannot certify the student to dive on their own. We think this makes sense, but there’s been some confusion on this point…)
