Team GirlDiver
The GirlDiver team is the real magic behind what we do everyday at the waters edge. The uncompromising patience and teamwork, focused on making each students experience excellent, is what really makes the GirlDiver program work.
Most of our team members got their start with GirlDiver, though some came later in their dive career. We feel absolutely blessed to have assembled such a strong group of individuals to play in the water with every day.
You’ll find no egos attached to the team. We are glad to share our struggles with learning the sport, so you can feel comfortable growing in yours. There is no pecking order on the team, as you may very well find Cindy doing the divemasters role, so the divemaster can take some time to talk with a student.
The Seattle Team
Cindy. Founder of GirlDiver and lover of the Scuba Diver Lifestyle. She’s been diving for 10 years and teaching for eight. Her true passion is in “building”. Whether it’s building a new diver, our team or the GirlDiver vision, she loves the process of refining and creating. This brings a dynamic to the GirlDiver team not easily replicated. Her favs: perfectly made hotel beds with palm trees outside, clear blue (flat) water and schools of fish too thick to see through. Chocolate and Coffee are her two vices…or are those “staples”?
Katie – has come to GirlDiver fresh from the slopes…as snowboarding is her other passion. Besides the underwater world, Katie treks the globe with Rome and Costa Rica as two of her recent getaways. She’s taken on the travel area of GirlDiver…excited to open the doors of exploration for our clients both on land and sea. With her favorite quote of… “People say that you’re going the wrong way when it’s simply a way of your own.”..she’s carving a path in a world holding unlimited possibilities.
Dale and Tracy -
Dale spent years as a high school teacher before launching into his current career as a project manager, but the teaching piece is still his passion. He and Tracy (a pharmacist) are planning an early retirement to a lush tropical paradise, and while they shop the world for the perfect spot to disappear to, we are lucky to have them on the team. With an awesome sense of humor, Dale keeps us laughing as we haul the tanks from beach to beach. Tracy LOVES warm water diving….but hasn’t bought into the Puget Sound yet…and we’re ok with that. This year they will explore Belize and Ireland…planning to dive both areas while there.
Kiley – wanted nothing to do with diving. As the daughter of Cindy, she probably hauled tanks too often, but in 2009, with nothing better to do, she agreed to take the class. She was hooked. She can often be found at Open Water class sessions or running errands for the team. While Kiley currently stays behind the scenes alot, she is starting to develop an interest in the ocean…albeit with the sun shining. Perhaps this coming summer we’ll see her at the shore more often. She has no plans (yet…) to follow in her moms footsteps.
Jason – working on our behind the scenes team, Jason keeps our website running and capturing the attention of people seeking the scuba lifestyle. Known for diving in shorty suits in the Puget Sound during warmer months, he’s definitely the “hottest” of our team members! A recent transplant from Rochester, New York, he was trained in the Florida Keys while in college. He has dived the Bahamas and Cozumel, as well as throughout our lush backyard waterworld. In 2012, his journeys will take him back to Mexico and south to Belize.
Letitia - works by day as a medical assistant en route to her PA …but on weekends she returns to diving. She first discovered diving while traveling in Honduras and decided she wanted to pursue a career where she could share that world with others. After completing her PA, she wants to work in remote Alaskan villages as a physicians assistant. We’re not sure how those two goals are going to work together….but we’re believing she’ll only be able to be found up north during the summer seasons. One of her favorite quotes is “Always desire to learn something useful.” – Sophocles. We think both of her paths are very useful.
